Muskegon Thunder News Release
Muskegon, MI - The Muskegon Thunder of the Indoor Football League have terminated the contract of head coach Anthony Parker with four games remaining in the 2009 season. The third-year franchise will finish the campaign with its remaining coaching staff which includes Rod Miller (offensive consultant), Brad Haney (defensive coordinator) and Mike Wilford (offensive line and special teams). No head coach title will be assigned.
Parker was brought in earlier this season to replace Brent White, after the Thunder (1-9) got off to an 0-4 start. Parker did help secure the team's lone win on May 1st, a home victory over Saginaw.
Despite elevating the talent level through vigorous recruiting efforts during his six weeks, Parker's latest setback, a lopsided 87-26 loss to Sioux Falls last Saturday, left the team looking for a change. Thunder management cited philosophical differences as the reason for Parker's dismissal.
Muskegon will travel to Maryland to take on the Maniacs this Saturday in the first-ever meeting between the two squads.
