Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Lake Elsinore, CA - The Quakes' offense continued to hit in Lake Elsinore on Saturday, but the pitching couldn't slow down the opposing offense, as the Storm hammered the Quakes by a final of 15-8 at The Diamond for their third win in five days over Rancho.
Damon Keith had three hits and three RBIs and Griffin Lockwood-Powell homered for the second straight day, but it wasn't nearly enough, as Quakes' pitching struggled on Saturday, issuing nine walks while seeing the defense commit four errors.
Rancho came back from multiple deficits, including rallying from three back in the fourth inning, scoring four times to take a 7-6 lead.
That lead was short-lived however, as the Storm got four off Orlando Ortiz (1-2) to take a 10-7 lead.
After Lockwood-Powell's homer made it a two-run game, the Storm then blew it open, scoring five off Osvanni Gutierrez to take a commanding 15-10 lead.
Storm reliever Yerry Landinez (3-2) earned the win in relief, while Alexuan Vega notched his first save by working the final three innings.
The Quakes (1-1, 37-31) will send Jerming Rosario (2-3) to the mound on Sunday afternoon at 4:05pm in the final game of the series. Lake Elsinore will counter with Jesus Gonzalez (3-2).
The Quakes return to LoanMart Field to open their first home stand of the second half on Tuesday, June 28th, taking on the Visalia Rawhide for six straight. Tuesday will be a Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, where fans can pledge to recycle ten CRV-eligible bottles and cans for a free Club Seat Ticket. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field...Go Quakes!
