Bakersfield Condors News Release
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - Matt Keetley made 29 saves and F Parker Stanfield scored twice as the Bakersfield Condors (11-32-4-1, 27pts) pounded the Utah Grizzlies (19-22-0-5, 43pts) 4-0 at Maverik Center Wednesday night.
Bakersfield scored twice on their first four shots to race out to a 2-0 lead. At 1:34, F Parker Stanfield banged home an Evan Trupp feed for his fourth goal of the season. Stanfield then returned the favor, assisting on Trupp's first goal as a Condor at 5:17 of the opening period. That goal chased Utah starting G Jimmy Spratt from the Grizzlies net. The Condors stayed on the attack though, scoring their league-leading 10th shorthanded goal of the season as C Robby Dee finished off a two-on-one breakout with Peter Boyd, 7:13 into the period. The Condors took the 3-0 lead with them to the intermission, but were outshot 12-9.
There was no scoring in the second period, but the Condors killed off two late Utah power plays. Bakersfield outshot the Grizzlies, 10-8, as Keetley kept the home team off the board.
Stanfield added his second of the night just past the 12-minute mark of the third to make it 4-0, and Keetley did the rest. He added nine saves in the third for his second shutout of the season - and the second straight shutout for Bakersfield against the Grizzlies. Keetley also added his third assist of the season on Dee's shorthanded goal. The line of Trupp-Stanfield-Kushneriuk combined for three goals, eight points, a +9 and two fights.
