Spokane Shock News Release
The Spokane Shock announced today that Defensive Specialist Rob Keefe has been named the ADT Defensive Player of the week for the inaugural week of the 2006 season by the arenafootball 2 league office.
Keefe, 5'11" 190, led the team in tackles (six, unassisted) and also had two interceptions, including one that he ran back 20 yards for a touchdown. Additionally, Keefe recovered an on-side kick in the 2nd Quarter to help led the Shock to a 41-40 win over the Stockton Lightning in their inaugural game.
"It feels great - it's unbelievable. This really sets the tone for the season," Keefe said. "The win was the most important thing for us as a team, but it's nice to receive individual recognition - it's like a cherry on top."
The Spokane Shock travel to Bakersfield, CA as they face off against the Bakersfield Blitz on Sunday at 3 PM, PST. The game will be broadcast on 105.7 the BUZZARD with Larry Weir and Paul Sorenson calling the action.
