Bakersfield Blitz News Release

Bakersfield - Bakersfield Blitz offensive specialist, Rennard Reynolds will be a guest on tonight's weekly radio program, "The Indoor War Report with Head Coach Gary Compton" after his 5 touchdown game on Thursday night lead the Blitz to their first victory. "The Indoor War Report with Head Coach Gary Compton" will be broadcasted live on KGEO AM 1230 from Tailgater's Sports Bar and Grill, 900 Truxtun Ave, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

"He is a special kid with a lot of talent," Coach Compton said after their win last Thursday night. "But the Spokane Shock should prepare for this Sunday because Rennard is just one of our many weapons." Rennard Reynolds, who is entering his second season in the af2, is the first recipient of the brand new Cutters Catch of the Week Award, a weekly honor that has emerged this year to highlight the player who makes the best catch of the week.

The Blitz 60-54 victory over the Everett Hawks last Thursday night was Coach Compton's first career victory. New quarterback Mike Wall proved he was a good decision for the Blitz as he ended the game with 20 of 31 passes, 260 yards, and 6 touchdown passes. Rennard Reynolds was named "Offensive Player of the Game," catching four of Mike's touchdown passes. One touchdown sent Rennard diving and flipping over the wall as he caught the ball in the end zone. In the end, Rennard accumulated 8 catches, 120 yards, 4 receiving and 1 rushing to total his 5 touchdowns. Nick Onaindia also had a great play in the beginning of the fourth quarter as he picked up a sweep toss from Wall and leaped 5 yards over the Hawks, landing in the end zone with a 16 yard touchdown.

The Blitz will continue their run for the championship at their first home game on Sunday, April 9 when the Blitz battle the Spokane Shock. Kick off is set for 3:00 p.m. at Rabobank Arena. The first 5,000 fans will receive a Blitz schedule magnet and thunder stick.
