Manchester Wolves News Release

The arenafootball2 league office announced today that offensive specialist/kick returner Jamaal Perry has been assigned to the Manchester Wolves, New Hampshire's professional arenafootball2 team.

"I'm happy to have Jamaal back here with us in time for the 2006 season," Wolves Head Coach Ben Bennett said. "He was one of our top receivers last year after J.J. McKelvey. With J.J. gone and some experience under his belt, I think he'll make an even bigger impact as his role expands this year in our offense."

Perry (5-9, 175) is returning to the squad after a brief stint with the Canadian Football League's Ottawa Renegades. The team folded earlier this week, allowing the Wolves to benefit by reassigning Perry to their squad. The Hofstra University graduate played a starring role as a rookie for the Wolves' 2005 East Division Championship team, where he led the team with 2,132 all-purpose yards, ranking him eighth in the af2. The Marietta, Ga. native played in all 17 games last season, and further established himself as a team leader by ranking second in both receptions (91) and receiving yards (1,004), as well as third in receiving touchdowns with 12.

Perry joins William "Roc" Haith as two surprise returnee's on the Wolves 2006 roster.

Haith started the 2006 season in the AFL with the Austin Wranglers, before being traded to the Dallas Desperados, where he played in a pair of games, recording eight tackles and one fumble recovery. Last season for the Wolves, Haith (5-11, 190) established a new af2 and franchise record for the most tackles in a season with 121.5, as well as setting a new team record for the most tackles in one game with 13.0. His success on the field earned him the ADT Defensive Player of the Game award eight times, as well as the af2 Defensive Player of the Week honor on one occasion.

With the addition of Perry and Haith, the Wolves have a total of 13 players coming back from last year's 2005 East Division Championship team.

"It's nice to look at the core group of guys and see that they are all still here," Haith said. "Hopefully, I can bring a lot of the experiences and what I've learned at the next level to these guys."

The Wolves kick off the 2006 season this Friday, April 7, against their division rival Green Bay Blizzard at 7:37 p.m. on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Every fan in attendance gets a FREE Wolves 2006 magnetic schedule!!!
