Kansas City Current News Release
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City NWSL opened its 2021 NWSL Draft with an aggressive move into the first round. After a trade with Sky Blue FC, Kansas City picks Kiki Pickett, defender from Stanford. In exchange for the fourth pick, Sky Blue receives $175,000 in allocation money.
Pickett, a two-time NCAA National Champion (2017, 2019) and three-time Pac-12 Champion (2017-2019), started every game in her 2019 season and scored the game-winning penalty-kick against North Carolina in the 2019 College Cup.
"Kiki is a player we had ranked very high on our draft board," said head coach Huw Williams. "She is a great fit for our system, she's explosive and can attack from the back."
Kansas City still has five picks remaining: three in the second round (Nos. 15, 16, 17), plus two additional picks in the fourth round (Nos. 36, 38).
