Greenville Grrrowl News Release
GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that KASEY KAHNE's #38 NASCAR Busch Series Dodge will be on display, along with the team transport trailer, on October 22, 2004 in association with the Grrrowl home opener. Fans will have an opportunity to get an up-close view of the #38 Great Clips Dodge show car.
At age 24, Kasey Kahne assumed Bill Elliott's role as driver of the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series in 2004. In addition to running a full NEXTEL Cup schedule in the No. 9 Dodge, Kahne competes full time in the NASCAR Busch Series next season. Evernham Engines supply the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge with engines for 2004. Kahne is currently 14th in the NEXTEL Cup point race, and has earned $3.8 million in the 28 races this season. He is currently ninth in the NASCAR Busch Series point standings, with $571,706 in earnings through 24 races. Kahne currently resides in Huntersville, NC, but is a native of Enumclaw, Washington. "We are planning many forms of entertainment for opening night, and to have Kasey Kahne's show car and travel trailer at the BI-LO Center, adds a very unique twist to the "Showtime" atmosphere," stated Byron K. Rucker, Executive VP/GM of the Grrrowl. "Kasey has made a big impact on the NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series circuits this season, and the race fans have certainly become attached to one of the up and coming stars in his profession." The trailer will be parked just outside the BI-LO Center on the Plaza, and the show car will be positioned on the concourse, just inside the Plaza Entrance.
Opening night â presented by Verizon Wireless (Friday, October 22, 2004 vs the Charlotte Checkers), will start the season with bang with an appearance by the World Famous ZOOPERSTARS, who return for the second season in Greenville. Joining the ZOOPERSTARS will be "Crazy Claude - The Happy Trumpeter" for his first appearance in front of the Greenville fans. Claude performed at the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game in Peoria, IL. Opening night will also be the first of three Scout Nights for the Grrrowl season. "The Hall Brothers" will be on hand to perform the National Anthem. All fans will receive a complimentary Verizon Wireless Grrrowl Magnet Schedule upon arrival.
