
Kansas City Royals Invite 12 Past Players of the Burlington Royals to Major League Spring Training

Burlington, NC - The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has invited 26 non-roster players to Major League Spring Training in Surprise, Ariz. Among the invitations are 12 past members of the Burlington Royals.
Pitchers Jake Kalish (2015) went 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA, Daniel Lynch (2018) pitched in 11.1 innings, with 14 strikeouts before getting called up to Lexington, Daniel Tillo (2017) went 3-2 with a 3.48 ERA, and Tyler Zuber (2017) went 1-0 with a 2.16 ERA; infielders Gabriel Cancel (2016) who had 50 hits, with 5 HR's, and 26 RBI's went .291/.346/.494 and Emmanuel Rivera (2016) had totaled 54 hits, including 4 triples; all originally drafted by the Royals.
Pitchers Ofreidy Gomez (2016) started in 12 games, and had a 5-4 record, Andres Machado (2013-2014) where in 2014 went 1-2 with a 3.63 ERA, Yunior Marte (2014) went 4-3 with a 3.44 ERA; catchers Freddy Fermin (2018) had 41 total hits, playing in 47 games, Sebastian Rivero (2017) had 189 at-bats where he drove in 28 RBI's, and hit .265/.288/.381, and infielder Humberto Arteaga (2012) played in 58 games and had 64 hits, going .274/.313/.380; all signed as international free agents with the Royals'.
Pitchers and catchers will hold their first workout of the season on Wednesday, February 12, while the first full-squad workout will be on Monday, February 17.
