Kansas City Current News Release
KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Current announced today a one-year deal with Palmer Square Capital Management as the official lower back-of-kit partner for the 2024 season. The team's primary and secondary kits will feature the logo of Palmer Square, an approximately $30 billion asset management firm. Palmer Square has a deep history of investing client capital into strategies focused on opportunistic credit, income, and private and structured credit both in the US and Europe.
"A founding partner from day one, Palmer Square has seen first-hand the incredible trajectory of the KC Current and its ability to introduce the Palmer Square brand to a larger, broader audience," said Palmer Square CEO Chris Long. "We have a brand that stands for excellence in investing, and through our deep understanding of the credit markets and tenured team, Palmer Square aims to deliver attractive returns for its clients. Similarly, the Current stands for excellence in striving to be the best women's soccer club in the world by not only knowing the soccer ecosystem deeply and leading within the sport, but also through illustrating the power of investment. We are thrilled to have Palmer Square and our innovative approach to investing highlighted through our partnership with the Kansas City Current."
"Palmer Square has been a great partner for the KC Current since our partnership began in 2021," said KC Current President Raven Jemison. "We've seen both organizations grow exponentially over the past few years as they continue change the game."
Based in the Kansas City metro with a research office in London, Palmer Square was founded in 2009 by CEO Chris Long and later joined by CIO Angie Long in 2011. The firm serves a diverse client base and has products for credit investors interested in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investing. Fans are familiar with the Longs, as the co-founders and co-owners of the KC Current.
As an Official Partner of the Kansas City Current, Palmer Square Capital Management will also receive in-stadium digital signage and be a prominent sponsor of 'Moment of the Match', which will be displayed both in-stadium and on social media.
The 2024 NWSL regular season kicks off Saturday, March 16, highlighted by a rematch of the 2022 NWSL Championship, with the Kansas City Current hosting the Portland Thorns for the inaugural match at CPKC Stadium, the first stadium purpose-built for a women's professional sports team in the world.
