Kansas City Current News Release

KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Current has announced details on the overall parking and transportation experience at CPKC Stadium. Transportation to and from the downtown stadium will be an important component of the fan journey and the Current are committed to providing the best fan experience at CPKC Stadium from start to finish on match day.

The Kansas City Current has carefully evaluated the impact CPKC Stadium and the community events will have on the environment and surrounding communities. To ensure the safe arrival and departure from CPKC Stadium, fans can expect a combination of on-site parking, complimentary shuttle service, and a variety of other modes of transportation. The Current will accommodate those with accessible parking needs through a combination of designated on-site and off-site ADA options.

Fans can find the comprehensive plan and maps with the most effective ways to get to CPKC Stadium on Match Day on the all new Parking and Transportation Hub.

Limited on-site parking is available to Season Ticket Members to purchase on a season basis. Single match parking passes are on-sale giving fans an option to purchase on-site parking. The club is encouraging members to participate in the "Current Carpool" initiative, which involves having at least four people in each vehicle parked on-site. Fans who arrive in a vehicle with 4+ fans will also receive a $10 CPKC Stadium credit. This initiative will decrease the environmental impact of match day transport, ease ingress and egress routes, and provide a more seamless transportation experience for others.

Fans without an on-site parking pass will have multiple alternative transportation options. Shuttle and bus services will be conveniently provided from destinations near the stadium. Fans can arrive to the River Market area via the KC Streetcar, bike, or walking. From there, they will be transported the final stretch of the trip to CPKC Stadium via a complimentary shuttle service. The two designated shuttle stops are located at 2nd & Grand and 7th & Main.

Park anywhere downtown, hop on the streetcar and head to the River Market North stop at 3rd and Grand. From there it is a short walk to the Town of Kansas Bridge and to Berkley Riverfront Park.

"The KC Streetcar will be boosting service levels on KC Current match days, connecting parking options throughout downtown," said Tom Gerend, Executive Director, KC Streetcar Authority. "Streetcar service will be a great choice for those looking for park and ride options to CPKC Stadium."

Alternative modes of transportation include public transportation (bus and IRIS), cycling, walking, or taking rideshare. A complimentary bike valet service will be provided on-site at CPKC Stadium for all cyclists.

Downtown Neighborhood Association is excited and delighted to offer one option for fans to arrive safely to KC Current home matches at CPKC Stadium this season with their Walking Tailgate.

"We are grateful to KC Current for providing many different ways for fans to arrive at a match, especially highlighting methods that do not require the use of a personal vehicle," said Rachel Pierce, DNA Communications Chair. "While we recognize not everyone will utilize this option, we believe that walking to the stadium together will not only be a great sustainable option, but frankly, be the most fun way to arrive! For every person who walks with us, that is fewer cars on roads and highways near the stadium, fewer cars taking up spaces for people who truly need them, and less emissions in our air."

This walk along the Riverfront Heritage trail will start at the Town of Kansas bridge 90 minutes before kickoff and walk 1.4 miles (25-30 minutes depending on walking speed) to arrive at the stadium. The trail is fully paved and ADA accessible. The trail is solely for pedestrian and cyclist usage, so it will be a safe way to arrive without sharing the road with vehicles or being subject to traffic.

"We will walk in rain or shine," said Pierce. "If the ladies are playing, we are walking! No need to RSVP, just show up to The Town of Kansas Bridge. The KC Current game day experience will be like no other in the world and DNA is excited to be a small part of that."

The Current encourages ticket holders to plan their routes in advance to make their experience a positive one from start to finish. KC Current will communicate with fans prior to each match and remind them all the multiple modes of transportation available to them on matchday.
