Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

HICKORY, NC - The Intimidators fell for the third straight game, losing on Saturday night at L.P. Frans Stadium, 4-3, to the Hickory Crawdads.

The Intimidators looked the better side most of the night, but lacked the one hit to get them over the top. Kannapolis stranded eight runners over a five-inning stretch, spanning from the fourth to the eighth inning.

Hickory did most of the damage against starter Garret Johnson (1-2) in the fourth inning, scoring three runs on three hits. Clark Murphy struck the biggest blow, with a two-RBI double off the Intimidators southpaw.

Kannapolis outhit Hickory, 8-5, and had a chance to go ahead with the bases loaded in the sixth. But the Intimidators (10-7) managed just one run in the frame and never managed to get over the hump.

Cliff Springston (1-1) took the victory with 5 2/3 innings of work. The left-hander gave up three runs, two earned, before giving way to a trio of Crawdads (9-8) bullpen pitchers. Matt Nevarez got the final two outs of the game for his first save.
