Kannapolis (12-40) lost 7-2 to Greenville (27-26) in the first of a four game series at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, Thursday evening. Kannapolis took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Brandon Johnson crushed a double to left, and wound up marching home on a WP thrown by Drive SP Michael Bowden. Greenville responded with a 3-run barrage immediately in the 2nd,against SP Clayton Richard. The Intimidators would pick up another run in the 2nd on Brandon Allens RBI single. However, the Intimidators would not get any closer. Greenville added 2 more unearned runs off Richard, who took the loss to fall to 1-2, working 4 innings. Bowden would bounce back and retire 8 straight hitters, to up his record to 3-3.
Greenville tacked on two more unearned runs in the 7th to seal the deal at 7-2.
Kannapolis tries to rebound Friday against Greenville. Intimidators RHP Ricky Brooks faces Greenvilles RHP Kevin Guyette. The first pitch from Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium is at 7:05.
