
Kane Scores, Canada Wins Opener

Vancouver BC - Vancouver Giants forward Evander Kane scored the first goal for Canada in a 5-3 win over Team Switzerland in the opening game for Canada at the World U-18 Championships, the Ivan Hlinka Memorial, in Slovakia.
Kane's goal was a power play marker which levelled the score at 1-1 early in period 1. Canada also had goals from Louis Leblanc, Ryan O'Reilly, Scott Glennie and Matthew Duchene. Canada heavily outshot the Swiss, 47-19 overall, and were an impressive 3 for 7 on the power play.
