
Randy Merkley New Voice of the Bruins

The Chilliwack Bruins and Radio CJVR Ltd. are pleased to announce the hiring of Randy Merkley as play by play voice of the Bruins and Sports Director of Radio CJVR's future Chilliwack radio station. Merkley, a graduate of the Broadcasting Program at Calgary's Mount Royal College has been involved with the Western Hockey League for the past three years, calling games for both the Regina Pats and Moose Jaw Warriors. Prior to his time in the WHL, Merkley worked for four years for Radio CJVR's Melfort, Saskatchewan radio station calling play by play of Tier 2 Junior and Midget AAA Hockey.
"We are thrilled to have Randy as the new voice of the Bruins," states Bruins Director of Marketing Barry Douglas. "He is very personable, a real team player and his enthusiasm will have our fans jumping out of their seats."
"Randy has a great passion for the game of hockey," commented Radio CJVR's Chilliwack Station Manager Kevin Gemmell. "We're very excited to have him rejoin our company in Chilliwack."
Bruins game broadcasts will continue to be available on 88.1FM until Radio CJVR's Chilliwack station launches in early 2009. Bruins games will also be available online via the Bruins website.
