Week in Review:
Friday, September 30th, 2011 vs. Vancouver Giants - 6-2 Win
The Kamloops Blazers took down the Giants 6-2 at home on Friday night. Austin Madaisky and Chase Souto each led the Blazers with a pair of goals, while Colin Smith and Logan McVeigh added singles. JC Lipon finished the game with two assists and 17-year-old import forward Tim Bozon had three helpers in the victory. Cole Cheveldave, who was making his first WHL start, turned aside 23 shots in the win. Full Recap and Highlights.
Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 vs. Victoria Royals - 8-2 Win
After a dominating victory on Friday, the Blazers followed it up with another big victory this time by an 8-2 score over the Victoria Royals. JC Lipon had a big night with two goals and two assists, while Chase Schaber chipped in with two goals and Colin Smith and Tim Bozon finished with a goal and a helper. Other goal scorers were Matthew Needham, and Bronson Maschmeyer. Taran Kozun, who was making his first WHL start, stopped 22 shots for his first WHL victory. Full Recap and Highlights.
Doris Rubel Passing
The Kamloops Blazers organization suffered a devastating loss this past week as long-time Billet Coordinator Doris Rubel passed away. Her 40+ years of service to junior hockey in Kamloops is extraordinary, and she will be forever remembered. The Blazers will hold a special pre-game ceremony on Friday, October 7th when they host the Spokane Chiefs. Funeral arrangements are set for Wednesday, October 5th at the Calvary Community Church at 1pm. Full Story.
