Kalamazoo Kings Re-Sign First Baseman from Championship Team
March 20, 2009 - Frontier League (FL)
Kalamazoo Kings News Release
Kalamazoo-With the season drawing near, the Kalamazoo Kings announced first baseman Tim Brown has returned to play with the Kings in 2009.
Tim last played with the Kings in 2005 when he led the team to the Frontier League Championship. He hit .323 with 17 homeruns and 71 RBI, while posting an astonishing .450 on-base percentage that year. After the season, Tim was signed by the San Diego Padres and played in their farm system in 2006 and 2007, reaching as high as AAA. In 2008, Brown played for the independent St. Paul Saints of the Northern League.
General Manager Joe Rosenhagen says, "Tim Brown will be a huge addition to our ball club. He's a true professional on and off the field."
"We have only one goal in 2009 and that's to bring back another Championship to Kalamazoo. We re-signed eighteen players from last year's Eastern Division Championship team, coupled with the signing of Tim Brown will make a very good ball club even better. It's going to be a very exciting year," Rosenhagen continues.
The Springfield, OR resident was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 12th round of the 2001 draft. Brown spent four years in the Pirates organization before joining the Kings for the 2005 season. He will provide much needed left-handed power to the Kings lineup.
