KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo Growlers have added two players from the University of Notre Dame to its 2016 roster. Pitcher Charlie Vorsheck and outfielder Jake Johnson will join the Growlers for the 2016 season.

Charlie Vorsheck: 6'4" - 220lb, RHP, Bats/R. Throws/R, Notre Dame (So.), Laguna Hills, Calif.

The sophomore has primarily pitched out of the bullpen for the Irish this season, totaling eight appearances. Vorsheck has compiled a 2.70 ERA over 10 innings to go along with eight punch outs, as of April 26.

Vorsheck comes to Kalamazoo with some summer collegiate baseball experience. He appeared in two games for the New Bedford Bay Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.

The six-foot-four right-hander earned four letters in baseball at Mater Dei High School upon graduation in 2014. Perfect Game named Vorsheck the No. 80 player overall in California after his senior season. Vorsheck's father, John, also played collegiate baseball for Ohio State and his brother played football at Arizona.

Jake Johnson : 5'11" - 180lb, OF, Bats/L, Throws/L, Notre Dame (So.), Atlanta, Ga..

The Atlanta native comes to Kalamazoo as a rising sophomore out of Notre Dame who has appeared in 46 games during his career as an outfielder for the Irish. As of April 26, Johnson is batting .207 with six RBI. He has also scored thirteen runs and walked eight times over 82 at-bats.

Johnson has been looking to improve on a freshman campaign in which he appeared in 25 games for the Irish including 22 starts. Johnson has primarily been the two-hole hitter for Notre Dame during the 2016 season and is expected to be a player who gets on base plenty of times for the Growlers this summer.

Perfect Game named Johnson the 14th best outfielder in his home state of Georgia following his senior year in 2016. He was named second team Southeast Region All-High School Senior Performer before hitting .401 with 31 RBI and 18 stolen bases for the Westminister School in Atlanta as a senior.
