Kalamazoo Wings News Release
The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce the signings of Andrew Fournier (four-KNEE-ay), Trent Daavettila (daav-UH-till-la), Patrick Asselin (as-lynn) and Anton Kharin (hah-REEN); per team policy, the terms of the contracts will be undisclosed.
A third-year pro, Fournier led the K-Wings last season in scoring by posting 71 points (27 goals, 44 assists) in 70 games last season. Fournier kept his scoring prowess in the Kelly Cup playoffs registering five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in five games.
"Coming off a career-year, Andrew has proven that he is an impact player," said Nick Bootland, director of hockey operations/head coach. "He has been able to score at every level he has played at and, last season, he showed the tenacity that helped him win a championship in Junior "A".
Highlighting his first season in Kalamazoo, Fournier tied a season-high and established a personal career-best with five-points on 12/12/09 versus the Wheeling Nailers. Fournier also recorded his first pro hat trick during that same contest.
During the season he went on a five-game assist streak from 01/02/10-01/13/10 and seven-game point streak from 12/31/09-01/13/09. Later in the season, Fournier matched his five point performance on 03/27/10 against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Awarded the ECHL Sher-Wood Hockey Player of the Week in late March, Fournier also earned team accolades being named the McDonald's Leading Scorer and the Meijer Most Improved Player awards during the K-Wings team award ceremony on 04/03/10.
