Four Names, One Team

Hoffman Estates, IL - Ten thousand votes and over a thousand name submissions later, the list of potential names for Chicagoland's newest ECHL hockey team has been narrowed down to four:
Chicago Blizzard
Hoffman Estates Hammers
Chicago Knights
Chicago Express
And the final round of voting has begun on www.NameYourHockeyTeam.com! The contest will run until August 6, 2010.
"The fans have really rallied around our team. We are thrilled that they are just as excited as we are. We couldn't have dreamed of a greater response than what we've received for the contest through Facebook, Twitter and emails,"Â said Craig Drecktrah, CEO of C & S Family Sports, the ownership group behind the team.
The team naming contest began 4 weeks ago in celebration of the team's admittance into the ECHL franchise and to mark their arrival at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates. The ECHL is a Premier AA hockey league and feeder for National Hockey League and American Hockey League teams.
The contest will culminate with an announcement of the new team name, along with a debut of team colors, logo and coach in mid-August. "We'd like to thank everyone for their amazing support as we bring ECHL professional hockey to the Sears Centre,"Â said Drecktrah.
The organization will also announce the winners, who submitted the names, for the "Name Your Hockey Team"Â promotion. The lucky fan who submitted the final winning team name in the first phase of the contest will be selected as the Grand Prize winner. This person will receive four complimentary season tickets and a special prize on Opening Night. All four fans, who submitted the final four team names, will receive four VIP tickets to Opening Night. And all submitters will be entered into a raffle to win others great prizes.
