Kaiser Named Saints Affiliate of the Month

October 16, 2018 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

Starting in the month of October and continuing throughout the season, the Fighting Saints will be showcasing their Affiliate of the Month. Dubuque not only has a great group of players on the ice this season, but they have a great group of players waiting in the wings as well. This month's affiliate being highlighted is Wyatt Kaiser, a defenseman from Ham Lake, Minnesota.

Kaiser was selected by the Fighting Saints in Phase 1 of this past year's USHL draft. Kaiser spent last season playing for Andover High School where he tallied 13 points in 22 games. Kaiser is an athletic defenseman who has plus puck moving abilities, especially for how young of a player he is.

Recently, Kaiser committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Duluth is known around the nation as one of the top hockey programs in the country. Earlier this month we talked to Kaiser about his commitment to Minnesota-Duluth, his vision for his future in hockey and what it's like to be a Saints affiliate.

Jack: What were your emotions when you decided to commit/announce your commitment to UMD?

Wyatt: I was very excited because growing up it was a dream of mine to continue to play hockey beyond high school, and to be able to play for a school like UMD is amazing.

Jack: What was it about UMD that made it stick out to you?

Wyatt: Minnesota hockey....there's just something about the atmosphere and the environment you're in that's special. This is especially true at UMD, it's a great school with great hockey tradition.

Jack: You're now associated with a great university in UMD but also a great team like Dubuque. What's it like to be a Saints affiliate?

Wyatt: I enjoyed my time at Dubuque's main camp. I loved the facility and the staff members & coaches that I met. The fans were all very welcoming. I've heard a lot of great things about the Saints organization and I'm proud to be a Saints affiliate.

Jack: Take us through what you have been doing/participating in hockey wise the last few weeks/months

Wyatt: I have been playing for the U16 MN Blades this fall and gearing up for a big high school season with the Andover Huskies.

Jack: Has there been a highlight from your recent hockey experiences (outside of committing to UMD)?

Wyatt: This August I had a chance to play for Team USA at the 5-Nations Tournament in Slovakia. Putting the USA jersey on is a moment I will never forget.

Jack: What is your goal for yourself personally in the next year?

Wyatt: One of my goals for next year is to play in the 2019 All-American Prospects Game. One of my ultimate dreams is to make it to the MN High School State Tournament.

Jack: Describe your hockey style in a few words

Wyatt: I would describe myself as a quick, smart, 2-way puck moving defenseman.

Kaiser will undoubtedly make a big impact for the Andover Huskies when he takes the ice for the 2018-19 season. The defenseman is a bright star on the Saints affiliate list. Make sure to continue to check our website and social media in the upcoming months for more on the Saints affiliates.
