K-Wings Week In Review

Game Rewind The Kalamazoo Wings started their week on Wednesday (12/23) on the road in Fraser, Michigan against the Motor City Mechanics. The K-Wings exploded for three goals in the first 15 minutes of the game and never looked back in a 7-4 victory over the Mechanics. Forward Lucas Drake led all K-Wings in points with four (2 goals, 2 assists), while both Kory Karlander and Mike Manley netted two goals each.

Kalamazoo finished up their short week on Friday (12/23) with a home date against the Muskegon Fury. The K-Wings dominated the first 40 minutes of play, as Kalamazoo enjoyed a 4-0 lead heading into the third period. The Fury attempted a comeback scoring three goals in the final period, but it wouldn't be enough, as Kalamazoo defeated Muskegon 4-3 and in the process gave the Fury their first road loss of the season. Goaltender Joel Martin stopped 24 shots to earn his league leading 14th victory of the season. The victory was Head Coach Mark Reeds' 400th of his career.

Fast Forward

The last week of 2005 will be a busy one for the K-Wings. Kalamazoo will play four times this week starting Wednesday (12/28) night in Flint. The K-Wings are 3-0-0 against the Generals this season. Flint starts the week in fifth place in the Central Division.

The K-Wings return home for a pair of games, including Friday (12/30) night, as the K-Wings host the Fort Wayne Komets on Fed-Ex Kinkos Night. Kalamazoo is 1-0-0 against Fort Wayne this season. The 7:30 p.m. face-off will be the first-time that former Komet Dustin Virag will play his former team. Friday's game will also be the return of former K-Wing forward Andrew Luciuk.

On Saturday (12/31), the K-Wings will ring in the New Year against the Muskegon Fury during the 4th Annual COOL 101/WWMT New Year's Bash. The K-Wings and Fury start the week atop of both the UHL and Central Division. On the season, Kalamazoo is 2-1-0 against their intra-state rivals. Face-off for the New Year's Eve clash is set for 7:30 p.m. Fans, who purchase tickets to the game, will get into the dance and public skate following the game for FREE.

The K-Wings will play their first game of 2006 on the road Sunday (1/1) against the Port Huron Flags. The K-Wings are 2-0-1 against the Flags this season. Port Huron, who is currently in third place in the Central Division, starts the week on a five-game winning streak. The K-Wings lost in a shootout to the Flags on December 18th in Port Huron.

On Top of the Mountain

With their victory over the Muskegon Fury last Saturday, the Kalamazoo Wings are now tied with the Fury for first place in both the UHL and Central Division.

Coaching Milestone

With the K-Wings victory over Muskegon, Head Coach Mark Reeds reached a personal milestone. The victory was Reeds 400th of his professional career.

On a Roll

Forward Nick Bootland has recorded a point in each of his last three games. The three-game point streak is the longest current point streak by a K-Wings player.

Just Win Baby

The K-Wings are unbeaten in regulation in their last four games. Kalamazoo, who are 3-0-1 in their last four games, are also on a two-game winning streak.

The Obscure Stat of the Week

The K-Wings have found ways to rebound after suffering a loss. Kalamazoo is 6-2-0 in games after suffering either a regulation or shootout loss.
