Kinston Indians News Release
After last night's thrilling 15th inning grand slam by Kyle Bellows led to a Kinston win in a 5 hour and 11 minute series opener at Potomac, the fun continues tonight at 7:03 pm. T.J. McFarland will throw for the K-Tribe. Notes attached
Extra, Extra! - Last night's 15 inning marathon was the longest game inning wise for Kinston since a 16 inning affair (also a win) on April 10th, 2008 against Frederick. The 5:11 time of the game was the longest in more than seven seasons for the K-Tribe. Kinston is now 5-1 in extrainning games, including winning their last four games that went into extras. Kinston has playedfive of their six extrainning games since May 7th, including their last two games. Sundays 12 inning, 3:38 matchup with Frederick was their longest of the year until last night. The K-Tribe has played 27 innings and 8:49 of baseball over the last two days!
Ronald Rivas Home Run King - Overlooked in the 15 inning game was a Ronald Rivas two-run home run in the fifthinning. The homer was a rarity for Captain Ron, who last hit a home run on July 12th, 2007 for the Gulf Coast League Indians in Rookie ball. Rivas went 247 games and 834 at bats between round trippers. The blast was the third of his professional career.
