Kinston Indians News Release

Former K-Triber Scott Lewis making a Major League Rehab start for Kinston at Salem tonight. The K-Tribe begins the day just 1 ½ games behind Salem for the final playoff sport in the CL Southern Division.

A K-Tribe Legend - Scott Lewis led all of Minor League Baseball with a 1.48 ERA for the K-Tribe, a franchise record, during the 2006 season. Kept on a strict pitch count for the entire season, Lewis pitched into the sixth inning just four times, but did not give up an earned run in 17 of his 27 appearances. Lewis walked just 28 batters while striking out 123 (third in the CL) in 115 2/3 innings of work. Lewis combined with Kinston hurler Chuck Lofgren (17-5, 2.32 ERA, 125 k's) to help the K-Tribe go 85-54 and sweep their way to a Carolina League Championship. The last K-Tribe start for Lewis was game two of the Division series, getting the win, going six innings and giving up just three hits. Of the players on the 2006 squad five position players (Michael Aubrey, Brian Barton, Trevor Crowe, Argenis Reyes and Wyatt Toregas) and four pitchers (Aaron Laffey, Jensen Lewis, Scott Lewis, and J.D. Martin) have all reached the Majors.

33 and Counting - Tim Fedroff has a consecutive on-base streak off 33 games, the longest streak this season in the Carolina League. Fedroff is hitting .325 during the streak which started on June 21st. The streak is the longest in the Carolina League since Jordan Parraz reached base in 38 straight games for Salem last season. The streak is the longest by a K-Triber since Stephen Head reached base safely in 37 straight games in 2006. Although Tim Fedroff was never put on the DL, the UNC Alum missed a week and a half due to a nagging hamstring injury in the middle of July. Since coming back on July 21st Fedroff has been on fire. Fedroff has hit safely in all but two of his 19 games since coming back. The K-Tribe outfielder also boasts ten multi-hit games including two three hit games and a four hit outburst. Fedroff has brought his average up from .252 to .291 (now the third best in the CL), he also boasts a .387 obp, the third best in the Carolina League. Fedroff also has racked up a season high 13 game hit streak.
