Cape Cod Frenzy News Release


Orleans, MA: The Cape Cod Frenzy of the American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that Gerry Corcoran has been named Head Coach of the Frenzy for the remainder of the season. Corcoran replaces Dr. Keith Clarke, who had resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Gerry Corcoran, who stands 6'7, was a seventh round pick of the Boston Celtics in the 1987 NBA Draft after a college career at Northeastern University. He played professionally in Ireland, Iceland, Scotland, Spain, Italy, Venezuela, and had a stint in the CBA with the Omaha Racers in 1990.

His coaching experience includes being an assistant to Jim Calhoun at the University of Connecticut in 1994, Head Coach for two years at Boston College High School ('95-'96), Umass-Boston Assistant Coach ('97-'00), Roxbury Community College Assistant Coach ('00-'01), North Shore Community College Head Coach ('01-'02), and Dean College Head Coach ('02-'04). At Roxbury, Coach Corcoran won an NJCAA National Championship with Frenzy guard Bilal Dawan-Abdullah. At Dean College, Corcoran was nominated the Region XXI Coach of the Year in 2003-2004, while setting three school records for most victories, and guiding his team to a 22-4 mark.

"Success happens when preparation meets opportunity", explained new Frenzy Head Coach Gerry Corcoran, "for me it is all about getting back into the game and proving myself once again that it is all about winning!".

Coach Corcoran will be holding his first practice on Wednesday February 7, 2007 at Willy's Gym in Eastham (www.willysgym.com). The Frenzy travel to the "great white north" this Friday and Saturday to face the Montreal Royal and the Quebec Kebs. The Frenzy are currently 8-14 and on a two game losing streak.
