Jupiter Hammerheads News Release
The Jupiter Hammerheads (20-12) were shutout by the Palm Beach Cardinals (18-14) by a final score of 2-0 on Saturday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. It is the first time that the Hammerheads have been shutout in 2024.
Through the first five innings of the ballgame, it was a pitchers duel between Palm Beach starting pitcher Jose Davila (W, 2-2) and Jupiter starter Noble Meyer. Meyer finished his outing with a no-decision in five shutout innings with just two hits and one walk allowed while striking out five batters.
However, Palm Beach took advantage in the top of the sixth inning with Jupiter going to the bullpen. Delvis Alegre (L, 0-1) would allow a double to Johnfrank Salazar and a single to Miguel Villarroel with one out before Kade Kretzschmar drove in the game's first run on a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 in favor of Palm Beach. Later in the top of the eighth inning, the Cardinals loaded the bases and Justin Storm would be charged with a balk bringing home the last run of the ballgame. Cardinals relief pitcher Gustavo Rodriguez would throw three innings of shutout baseball to earn the save to shutout the Hammerheads 2-0.
For Meyer, he has thrown 10 scoreless innings in his last two starts.
With the Cardinals leading the series three games to two, Jupiter will look for a series split against Palm Beach in the series finale on Sunday, May 12th with first pitch scheduled for noon at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
