Montreal Juniors News Release
Montreal, February 18th, 2009 - Taking their show on the road, the Junior faced the Screaming Eagles on Wednesday evening in Cape Breton. Unable to build off their recent win against Gatineau, the Junior fell 7-1 to Cape Breton.
Captain Matt Fillier scored the first and only Junior goal of the game at 6:58 of the first, with Alex Wall and Nick Layton each receiving an assist on the play. Only minutes later, with the man-advantage, Screaming Eagle Robert Slaney beat goalie Jake Allen for the tying goal.
Entering the second period tied at one, the second period proved unkind for the Junior as Cape Breton lit the lamp three times with Michael Stinziani, Nick MacNeil and Logan Shaw each scoring goals.
With the Junior trailing 4-1 entering the final frame, the Eagles' offensive ways continued as Logan Shaw scored his second goal of the night at 5:24. Jean-Francois Bérubé, having replaced Jake Allen after the fifth Cape Breton goal, conceded two more to Maximilien Le Sieur and Nicolas Chouinard, solidifying Cape Breton's win with a final score of 7-1.
The Junior will continue their road swing with three games in three nights this weekend. Starting in PEI on Friday night, the Junior will then face off against St. John on Saturday, followed by a match-up against Acadie-Bathurst on Sunday. The Junior will return home to the Verdun Auditorium on Friday February 28th to faceoff against the Q's powerhouse, the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
