Wildcats Defeat MAINEiacs, 3-1

Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release


Lewiston, ME - 3,000 unhappy MAINEiacs fans trugged through the snow back to their cars in the parking lots of the Androscoggin Bank Colisee Wednesday night. The Moncton Wildcats defeated the Lewiston MAINEiacs 3-1, completing a 3 game season series sweep of the MAINEiacs.

Danick Paquette netted the only goal for Lewiston a minute and sixteen seconds into the first period. David Savard, Tomy Joly and Scott Brannon scored the three goals for the visiting Wildcats. MAINEiacs Assistant Captain Max Gratchev was ejected from the game for a checking from behind penalty and was awarded a game misconduct.

Adrien Lemay earned his ninth loss of the year, while Nicola Riopel was awarded his 37th win. Moncton fired 37 shots at Lemay, and Lewiston managed to get 18 shots on Moncton's goal. The three stars of the game were 1) David Savard (MON), 2) Adrien Lemay (LEW), 3) Tomy Joly (MON).

The MAINEiacs are back on home ice on Saturday to play host to Clem Jodoin's Rimouski Oceanic at 7:00 PM. The MAINEiacs will be paying tribute to the Maine Nordiques with a special replica jersey as a part of the MAINEiacs "Shirts Off Our Backs" night.
