Montreal Juniors News Release

MONTREAL - Easily bouncing back from a loss to Saint-John, the Juniors skated past the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 3-2 at home on Friday night.

With the win, the Juniors improved their record to 7-2-2-1.

After a back and forth start to the game, Louis Leblanc opened up the scoring for the Juniors just over halfway through the opening period. His fifth goal of the season was immediately followed one minute later by Michael Clarke's third tally of the year, giving the home team a 2-0 cushion at the break.

Momentum stayed with Montreal throughout the second period as despite taking some penalties, they managed to consistently press a tiring Chicoutimi defense. A penalty opened the door for Chicoutimi's Guillaume Asselin to notch his sixth goal of the season, a power play marker which cut the Juniors' lead to 2-1.

Nicolas Therrien, of Chicoutimi, scored the only goal of the third period at 16:05, assisted by defenseman Éric Gélinas and goaltender Chrstopher Gibson. This evened the score at 2-2 and brought the game into overtime.

No goals were made in overtime. It is a goal by Louis Leblanc in shootouts that secured the win for the Juniors.

The Juniors will play again on Sunday, October 17th at 3:05pm at the Verdun Auditorium, when they face off against the Val d'Or Foreurs.
