Published on October 15, 2010 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release

BOUCHERVILLE, Friday, October 15, 2010 - The QMJHL wishes to recognize a milestone which one of its officials will reach this coming weekend: the 1000th game officiated during regular season and playoffs of David Taverfoff.

As previously accomplished by Serge Carpentier and Sylvain Cloutier, David Taveroff will join this very select group on his next assignment scheduled for Sunday, October 17th, at 3 pm, at the Verdun Auditorium for a Montreal Juniors game against the Val-d'Or Foreurs.

For this memorable game, Taveroff will have Dominic Bédard and Nicolas Dutil (referees) as well as Denis Drolet (linesman) as partners. In addition, Sylvain Cloutier, who reached this amazing milestone as a linesman a few years ago will be the supervisor.

David Taveroff's first game dates back to September 25th, 1983 in Verdun when Chicoutimi was the visiting team. François Larochelle was the referee and Yves Deschênes was the other linesman. To this date and throughout twenty-eight (28) seasons in the QMJHL, David Taveroff worked 881 regular season games and 118 playoffs games for a grand total of 999.

For the occasion, four current NHL officials originating from the Lac St. Louis region will be on site to honour him. They are Dave Jackson, Marc Joannette, Pierre Champoux and Pierre Racicot. Representing the QMJHL will be Pierre Leduc, the Director of Hockey Operations, who also hails from Lac St. Louis. He will present a commemorative plaque to David Taveroff.
