Junior Stamps Camp Headed to Lethbridge
May 28, 2013 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that they'll be hitting the road to Lethbridge on Saturday, June 1 for the inaugural edition of Junior Stamps Camp.
The club's rookie players along with offensive lineman Jon Gott, who grew up in Lethbridge, quarterback Drew Tate, president Gordon Norrie, head coach and general manager John Hufnagel, members of the Outriders cheer team and Ralph the Dog will be headed to Lethbridge's Community Sports Stadium.
The players will meet with 200 youths from the Lethbridge area - including youngsters from KidSport and members of the Lethbridge minor football program - and run them through a series of football drills. Afterwards, there will be an autograph session.
The event - which follows on the heels of the very similar Red and White Day visit by the Stamps to Medicine Hat a year ago - will help raise awareness and funds for KidSport Lethbridge and Taber, an organization dedicated to ensuring all youngsters are able to break through financial barriers and participate in organized sports.
"We're very excited to go to Lethbridge and meet some of our fans in Southern Alberta," said Norrie. "It's going to be a great day of football activities and interaction between the Stamps and the kids. Even better, proceeds from the event will go to a worthy cause in KidSport."
The Stampeders have a longstanding relationship with KidSport, starting with a skills camp that was held annually in Calgary and now the program is expanding into Stampeders country in Southern Alberta.
