Sioux City Explorers News Release
Fargo, ND- The Sioux City Explorers wrapped up the series in Fargo with a loss, falling to the RedHawks 4-1 at Newman Outdoor Field.
Fargo-Moorehead jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the first two innings of play. The RedHawks plated their first two runs with a sacrifice fly and an error. In the second inning, Brett Wiley knocked in a run with an RBI single.
The RedHawks scored again in the fourth inning. Fargo-Moorhead's designated hitter Ryan Pineda smashed a solo-shot to extend their lead.
Sioux City managed to score one run in the contest. In the fifth inning, X's second baseman Nick Flair ripped a one-out triple, and later scored off an error by the third baseman.
Final Score: RedHawks 4, Explorers 1
Explorer's starter Kurt Heyer was charged with the loss, allowing four runs in 5.2 innings pitched.
RedHawks starter Mike O'Neal (2-1) received the victory, going eight innings with only one run allowed while recording six strikeouts. Casey Weathers (s-3) grabbed the save for Fargo-Moorhead.
