Anderson Joes News Release
The Bradenton Juice scored the second-most runs of any team in a South Coast League game this season Wednesday night. Unfortunately for Anderson, it came against the Joes. Bradenton won, 15-6, taking two of three games against Anderson in their first-ever series against each other.
Things started out positively enough for the Joes, as two new players made their debuts and Anderson (3-14) scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the second inning. But the additions of shortshop Jake Wheeler and second baseman Brandon Carter could not spur the Joes to victory.
Bradenton (9-7) highlight its 15-run effort with a six-run third inning and a three-run seventh, but the Juice also scored two runs in second, seventh, and eighth frames. Neither starting pitcher lasted past the third inning, but the offenses came out to play. Al Corbeil went 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs and two RBI for the Juice. Bradenton first baseman Eddie Kim hit his second homer in as many nights, finishing 2-for-6 with two runs and three runs driven in.
For the Joes, Billy Hogan set a new team record with five hits in one game, going 5-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI. The Joes matched a team record, as well, combining for 15 hits for the third time this season. Travis Kane earned the win for Bradenton with four innings of one-run relief work , improving his record to 1-0. Andy Carter allowed eight runs in three innings, taking his third loss against no wins this season.
The Joes finish up their abbreviated homestand with a 2-3 mark and head to Port Charlotte, Fla., to take on the Charlotte County Redfish on Thursday.
The Joes and 'Fish meet for the first time this year with matching 3-14 records and will play a three-game set.
