Jr. K-Wings Read Across America

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League announce the conclusion of National Read Across America Month.

Well represented were the Jr. K-Wings across the Kalamazoo/Portage area throughout the month of March, as they participated in a month-long campaign called Read Across America.

The team went to seven different schools over the course of the month, and read to students as well as discussed the importance of hard work, practice, teamwork as well as other motivational topics aimed at children from elementary school to middle school.

Head Coach Marc Fakler was glad to help out the community that supports his team week in and week out, he said: "we are so proud of our boys and how they represent the community, this means so much more than simply winning hockey games."

The schools that participated, and passed out 1,800 game tickets to see the Jr. K-Wings were: North Middle, Moorsbridge, Angling Road, Woodland Elementary, Oakland Academy, Haverhill, and Central Elementary.

The Jr. K-Wings will return to the Borgess Health Rink at Wings West again on Saturday, March 31st against the Port Huron Fighting Falcons.
