
IceRays Fall 3-1; Eliminated from Playoff Contention

FRISCO, TX - AJ Jarosz gave the IceRays life in the third period and Anthony Stolarz stopped 44 shots, however, the Corpus Christi IceRays were eliminated from playoff contention after suffering a 3-1 loss to the Texas Tornado inside the Dr. Pepper Arena.
Texas got off to a hot start in the game peppering Anthony Stolarz with shots and he denied them all until the 16:57 mark of the first period when Jordan Greenberg fired a puck through a screen, and through the legs of Anthony Stolarz to give the Tornado a 1-0 lead.
Perry D'Arrisso took a hit and left the game but returned to start the second period. After the first period, the IceRays were being outshot 17-3. In the second frame there was no scoring however, two penalties were called. Greg Chapman took his third penalty in two periods and for hooking and Jordan Greenberg exited the ice for two minutes on a penalty of his own that carried over into the final period.
Odessa prevailed in Wichita Falls while Corpus Christi was in their second intermission and the IceRays needed a comeback win to keep the playoff hopes alive.
In the third period, the Tornado took a 2-0 lead off the stick of Marc Biggs from the slot 6:01 into the final period and the IceRays needed to erase a two goal deficit to keep playoff hopes alive.
AJ Jarosz gave Corpus Christi hope with 4:55 left in the game on an interception, Jarosz walked in and backhanded the puck past a diving Frederick Leisner to pull the IceRays within a goal.
However, with under a minute to go in the game, Texas hit an empty net goal erasing any chance of a playoff spot for the IceRays.
Anthony Stolarz was stellar in net stopping 44 of 46 shots in the loss.
The IceRays will play their final game of the regular season tomorrow night against the Tornado. Puck drops at 7:30PM, coverage begins at 7:15PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
