Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
The Jr. Blues travel to the Soo this weekend after a disappointing weekend in Kalamazoo. The Jr. Blues dropped two hard fought games, 2-1. Despite outshooting the Jr. K-Wings in both games, the Jr. Blues were unable to beat the Jr. K-Wings goaltenders. The Jr. Blues look to get back on track this weekend.
Jr. Blues lose 2-1
Jr. Blues register 50 shots, only score 1
The Jr. Blues traveled to Kalamazoo this past weekend to face the Jr. K-Wings.
The Jr. Blues came out slow, surrendering 2 first period goals. Brett Skibba (pictured above) was the lone Jr. Blue to score after he beat a defensemen wide and threw a puck at the goalies feet for the goal, cutting the lead to 2-1. Despite 39 shots in the final 2 periods for a total of 50 shots, the Jr. Blues couldn't get another puck past the K-Wings.
Matt Leon was strong in net again for the Jr. Blues stopping 26 of 28 shots. The Jr. Blues were 0 for 2 on the powerplay, while the K-Wings were 0 for 1.
Late Goal Beats Jr. Blues
Jr. Blues lose 2-1 for second game in a row
A rare Sunday afternoon game found the Jr. Blues facing off against the Jr. K-Wings for the second day in a row.
And for the second day in a row the Jr. K-Wings would manage a 2-1 win over the Jr. Blues.
Simon Koscielski (pictured above) registered his first goal of the season half way thru the third period to even the game at 1-1. Koscielski banged home a rebound off of a Brett Skibba shot. Despite outshooting the Jr. K-Wings 13-6 in the third period, the Jr. K-Wings scored a goal with 3:59 remaining in the game off a defensive zone faceoff.
Matt Leon turned in another stellar performance on Sunday, stopping 25 of 27 shots.
