Jr. Blues Defeat Janesville 5-3

McGing, Chasteen each score 2

Janesville came into Springfield winners of 3 of their last 4, just like the Jr. Blues. However, on this night, the Jr. Blues were led by Nate Chasteen and James McGing (pictured above) who each had 2 goals.

Chasteen started the scoring less than 5 minutes into the game. McGing added his first of the game less than 60 seconds after that. Janesville would make it 2-1, but Ryan Atkinson, in his first game back from injury, would increase the lead to 3-1 before 10 minutes had even come off the clock.

Janesville would eventually score 1 late in the first and tie the game in the middle of the second period. The game would remain tied 3-3 until 4:30 minutes remaining when Nate Chasteen would score his second of the night on a late powerplay chance. McGing would add his second, an empty-net goal, with 30 seconds remaining to seal the victory.

Matt Leon was strong in net stopping 35 of 38 shots and improving his record to 3-0-0 in his last 3 starts.

Jr. Blues Sweep Janesville

Captain Fazio leads Jr. Blues to victory

Mike Fazio (pictured right) stole the show late in the game Saturday night. Despite outplaying the Jets for most of the game, Janesville held a 1-0 lead for the second half of the game.

With 8 minutes left, the Jr. Blues earned a powerplay that Brett Skibba would cash in on and score his team leading 11th goal of the season. The play was set up by Fazio and Terry Leabo. On his next shift, Fazio would bang home a rebound from a Skibba shot. Fazio fought his way to the front of the night and found the rebound on his stick, which he was able to put in the net. Fazio would add an empty net goal for his second goal and third point, on the night.

Ryan Kellenberger was strong in net, stopping 21 of 22 shots.
