Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
The Springfield Jr. Blues sent a message this weekend- they want to go dancing in April.
Anthony Mangano scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and the Blues beat the Coulee Region Chill Saturday night, 4-3.
Mangano's goal came on a 2-on-1 in the third period with Kevin Klima. Mangano tried to pass from the right wing, but it was blocked by Chill defenseman Niko Luka, and Mangano got the puck back and beat Coulee Region goalie Jimmy Thomas short side.
The official game-winning goal was an empty-netter by Grant Meyer. The Blues went ahead 4-2 on the goal, only to see Austin Miller score to make it 4-3. But the Chill couldn't tie the game after that.
Brady Tomlak and Joshua Lammon also scored for the Jr. Blues, who have now won two straight. Dryden McKay made 34 saves, including a mask save and a snappy glove save in the third. The Blues pelted Jimmy Thomas with 46 shots. Dawson DiPietro and Dominick Florian scored the other goals for the Chill.
The Jr. Blues got major help from the Michigan Warriors this weekend, who beat Johnstown twice in regulation. That sets up a critical final two weekends for Springfield as they have a home-and-home series with the division-leading Janesville Jets.
