Springfield Jr. Blues News Release

The Springfield Jr. Blues beat the Fargo-Moorehead Jets 6-2 Friday night. On Saturday night-a different story, as Fargo dominated the play for a 6-2 win.

In Friday's game, the Blues overcame a sluggish first period and a 2-1 deficit, erupting with five unanswered goals for the win. Jarod Rickord started off the scoring in the first period, assisted by Matt Globke.

Matt Larke scored a second period power-play goal, with assists from Kyle Greco and Dan Weiss. Greco scored next assisted by Larke.

In the 3rd period, Cory Patterson lit the lamp with helpers from Greco and Klemen Sodrznik at 4:27 of the period. Scoot Keeven hit the back of the net next with help from T.K. Kennedy. Larke finished the scoring with a little help from both of his linemates, Patterson and Greco.

Saturday's game was a different story. With NHL legend Bobby Hull in attendance, along with a packed house, Fargo dominated the entire game from end-to-end and scored the first five goals of the game. It wasn't until 14:30 of the second period before the crowd had something to cheer about when Jarod Rickord got a breakaway and scored. The goal was assisted by ColinTrachsel and Dan Weiss. Kyle Greco got the only other Springfield goal of the night at 4:31 of the 3rd, assisted by Ritchie Zobak and Cory Patterson.

Fargo desperately needed the win to stay in contention for a playoff spot. Springfield could have locked in a playoff spot with a win, but it wasn't in the cards.

Notes.....It doesn't get any easier for the Blues as the rest of the six remaining regular-season games are on the road. The team has been without the services of forwards Jon Gaffney(dislocated shoulder) and Steve Mohler(bruised ankle). Both could return by next weekend. With these two out, the team has lost its scoring punch, as Gaffney & Mohler have combined for 69 points. For the team to be successful in the playoffs, they need some output from a few "unlikely heros". Who'll step up between now and then?? STAY TUNED!!
