Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
Springfield, Illinois - The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that we have signed defenseman Benjamin Thompson to a tender for the 2022-23 season!
Thompson, a native of Maple Grove, MN who is currently playing for Benilde-St. Margaret's in Minnesota, is our second tender signing of the year. In 16 games for Team SIT (UMHSEHL) this season he has 1 assist and in 11 games for Benilde-St. Margaret's (USHS) he has 1 goal and 2 assists. In three high school seasons Thompson has appeared in 47 games and has recorded 3 goals and 17 assists. Thompson is a former teammate of current Jr. Blues defenseman James Callahan at Benilde-St. Margaret and Team SIT.
We want to congratulate Ben for his hard work to this point and look forward to seeing how he continues to progress this season! He joins Hadley Hudak (Victory Honda 18U AAA) as one of our two tenders so far.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team.Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which is held each year in the summer.
