Springfield Jr. Blues News Release

There have been some strange happenings in Blaine through a day and a half of some really good hockey games, with surprise results everywhere. Who would have thought that Topeka would be 0 - 2 after two games' Two afternoon games were decided by shootouts, most of the games have been really close. The Blues won the game against Odessa yesterday and Odessa took Traverse City to a shootout before losing. Interesting to say the least.

The Springfield Jr. Blues go against last year's Robertson Cup Champions tonight with game time at 8:00pm. Hopefully the Blues can get another win.

The first period was certainly exciting and fast paced. Tyler Rehm scored his first goal as a Jr. Blue unassisted as the Blues took a 1 - 0 lead. The Blues again won the majority of first period faceoffs and really outplayed the Robbie Cup holders, but at the last second of the period (literally) Pete Spratte scored the tying goal for the Ice Dogs. Second period on the way ‚¬Â¦

Period two was not a memorable one for the good guys as Fairbanks scored twice, the second goal once again in the final seconds. The Blues were outplayed during the second by the Ice Dogs as the Blues are finding it difficult to score. The Blues have one more period to figure things out and get back into this game. We'll see how they respond.

The Blues did not respond well in the third and looked much like they did in the game last Saturday night. Passing was not as sharp as it must be at this level, and the good guys were taken to task by the reigning Champs of the NAHL. Perhaps they can do better tomorrow afternoon against the Texas Tornado. Final score: 5 - 2 Fairbanks beats the Blues.

Until tomorrow against Texas so long from Blaine.
