Bruins lose to Michigan 7-6

The Bruins continued play at the North American Hockey League Showcase as they battled the Michigan Warriors of the North Division. The Warriors entered action as one of the best teams in the showcase winning their first two games. The first period from the Blaine super rink was unorthodox to say the least. The Bruins had four penalties in the first period, The Bruins scored shorthanded as Riley Colvard was set up by Jeremy Finger. Special teams continued to be the storyline in the first frame as John Gerht scored and Riley Colvard had the assist. At the first intermission the Bruins had a 2-0 lead. The second period the Bruins added to the score sheet as Brandon Wahlin scored his third goal of the season the assist went to Nolan Kirley. The Warriors answered back as James Kline scored assists went to Vermillion and Sanchez. Making it a 4-1 lead was CJ Smith, assisting on the goal was Jonathan Gerht. Michigan than capitalized on an odd man rush as Andrew Huckleby put one over the shoulder of Garret Patrick making the score 4-2. The final tally of the middle period came from Christian Folin and the assist went to Austin Nelson. After two periods of play the score was 5-2 Bruins. Warriors got a goal early in the period as Garret Patrick was pulled and Nick Lehr came in for relief. The Bruins than got one from John Kirby assisting on the goal was Andy Faust and Chase McDonald. Michigan answered back with three unanswered goals and the game went to overtime. The Bruins had a four on three advantage but could not capitalize. Ending it in overtime was AJ White for Michigan 7-6. The Bruins are back in action tomorrow night as they play the Wichita Falls Wildcats of the South Division.
