Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
The Springfield Jr. Blues dominated the St. Louis Bandits for three periods, taking the second game of the best-of-five series, 4-1. The Blues travel to St. Louis today at 4pm for game three and the chance to take the series lead.
Unlike the night before where the Bandits controlled the play for most of the game, the Blues came out on fire and scored four straight goals in route to the win. St. Louis spoiled the shutout for Springfield goaltender C.J. Groh at the 10:17 mark of the third period. Kyle Verbeek(Rob Dongara), Trent Frey(Nick Curry,Denys Petrukhno), Jon Gaffney(Frey, Curry) and Nick Curry(Gaffney,Frey) all scored for Springfield in the well-rounded effort.
"We played well tonight-especially our defense and goaltending", said coach Andy Maher. " Every game is important but this was a must win. It guarantees that we get a chance to come back to Springfield for a game four. Now we need to figure out a way to win in St. Louis Sunday.
The Blues will be back home next Friday night at 7:30 for game four.
