
Jr. Blues Beat Mahoning Valley In Shootout; Improve to 2-1 on Season

From Blaine, Minnesota...Mike Schaber and Trent Frey scored in a shootout, beating the top-ranked Mahoning Valley Phantoms4-3. The team's were tied at 3 going into overtime with Springfield goals by Jon Gaffney(Rob Dongara), Trent Frey(Justin Hochsprung, Nick Curry) and Brian Prost(Gaffney, Callahan) in regulation. Neither team scored in the overtime, forcing a shootout. Springfield goaltender Matt Wichorek shut down all the Phantom's shooters and made several big saves during regulation play. The Blues take on the Alaska Avalanche this afternoon at 3:30 pm in thier 4th and last game of the Blaine Showcase. A full recap of the Showcase will be available on Sunday.
