BLAINE, Minn. - Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.) scored three goals as the U.S. National Under-18 Team defeated the North Iowa Outlaws, 8-4, here today in its last game at the sixth annual North American Hockey League Showcase.

"It was a good bounce back win for our guys; we showed a lot of character coming from behind in the game today, " said Ron Rolston, head coach of Team USA. "I felt that we played our best hockey in the last two periods, which will get us going in the right direction as we head to Alaska for our first games against Division I competition."

Chris McCarthy (Collegeville, Pa.) gave the U.S. a 1-0 lead in the first period when his shot from the right faceoff dot beat netminder Thomas Callaghan low-stick side. Morin extended Team USA's lead after taking a feed from Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) and slipping the puck under Callaghan. North Iowa came back with three goals in the first, including Dustin Moser's wrist shot over the glove of netminder Brandon Maxwell (Winter Park, Fla.) for the 3-2 lead at 18:44.

In the second frame, Chris Brown (Flower Mound, Texas) shoveled Kevin Lynch's (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) pass into the back of the net to tie the score, 3-3. Morin regained the lead for Team USA when he deked between two defensemen, then around a sprawling Callaghan and slipped the puck into the net at 12:27.

Shore gave Team USA its second two-goal lead of the game after tipping in a rebound at 2:48. Maxwell fed Brown, who carried the puck into the Outlaw zone and fired a slap shot from the right point into the lower left corner of the net. Morin made it a 7-3 game and completed his hat trick at 9:25 after tapping Sam Calabrese's (Park Ridge, Ill.) pass into the goal. McCarthy notched his second marker at 10:55. Anthony Raiola tallied for North Iowa at 14:47 to account for the 8-4 final.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team returns to action when it travels to Alaska on Thursday (September 25) for its first game against NCAA Division I competition against the University of Alaska Anchorage at 7:30 p.m. AKT.

NOTES: Drew Shore (1-3) and Jeremy Morin (1-3) each recorded four points in the game ... Team USA out shot North Iowa by a 30-13 margin ... Both National Team Development Program squads participated at the NAHL Showcase. It was the first year both teams have been at the event at the same time.
