Lakeland, FL - Lakeland Flying Tigers left-handed starter Josh Turley was named Florida State League (FSL) Pitcher of the Week today. The FSL selection was for the period of June 30 - July 6.
Turley started one game against the Tampa Yankees on July 4. He pitched eight shutout innings in a no decision. He allowed only two hits and three walks while striking out eight batters. Turley is 7-0 on the season with a 1.69 ERA. He has allowed only 62 hits in 90.1 innings pitched with 76 strikeouts. Turley currently leads the FSL in ERA, WHIP (0.94), batting average against (.199), winning percentage (1.000) and fewest baserunners/9 IP (8.44).
This is Turley's 3rd professional season. He was drafted by the Tigers in the 16th round of the June 2012 draft from Baylor University and resides in Texarkana, TX.
