Mobile, Ala. – The BayBears bats were locked up Friday by Chattanooga starter Josh Hall. The right-hander threw a complete game leading the Lookouts to a 5-1 win, in front of 5,423 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium, in the opener of the four-game series.

Hall (5-7) tied the Southern League season high with 13 strikeouts, allowing just one run on four hits.

The BayBears sent Justin Germano to the mound, making his Double-A debut. Germano (0-1) took the loss as he gave up five runs (four earned) on nine hits in seven innings while striking out eight.

Chattanooga took control of the game in the top of the fourth inning as they plated four runs to break a scoreless tie. Guye Senjem drove in the first run with a single. Mark Schramek scored two with a double to the wall in left-centerfield. Then a ball off the bat of Brian Peterson went off the glove of third baseman Rico Washington, scoring the fourth run of the inning.

The BayBears scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth. Vince Faison led off with a walk and scored as Jake Gautreau doubled down the line in right.

Chattanooga added their final run as Santiago Perez stole home as Wilmy Caceres was thrown out at second base on a steal attempt.

The BayBears and Lookouts will play game two of their series Saturday night at 7:05. LHP Cory Stewart (8-5; 2.93) will get the start on the hill for Mobile against Chattanooga's RHP Bobby Basham (5-8; 4.95).

The BayBears will be celebrating Christmas in July at Hank Aaron Stadium Saturday night to raise awareness for the Salvation Army. There will be a petting zoo at the front gates.
