Saint John Sea Dogs vs. the Charlottetown Islanders

SAINT JOHN - Pierre-Olivier Joseph scored twice, including the game winner, as the Charlottetown Islanders defeated the Saint John Sea Dogs, 6-3, Thursday at Harbour Station.
Hunter Drew tallied a goal and two assists for Charlottetown (32-21-5-0) while Nikita Alexandrov and Daniel Hardie added a goal and an assist each. Olivier Desjardins had the other goal. Derek Gentile chipped in with three assists.
Cole Reginato led the Saint John (13-34-9-2) attack with a goal and an assist. Kevin Mason netted his first QMJHL goal and Alexis Girard also found the net.
The Sea Dogs struck first with a power play fourteen minutes into the game.
Reginato fed a pass from the left boards to Girard at the top of the right circle. The blueliner crushed a one-timer through the legs of a screened Dakota Lund-Cornish in the Islanders' net.
Charlottetown responded 34 seconds later after a blocked shot at their blueline turned into a 2-on-0 rush.
Alexandrov sent a pass across the low slot to Derek Gentile, who deflected it off the left post. Alexandrov pounced on the rebound to tie the game.
Joseph gave the visitors the lead 24 seconds into the second period with a wrister from the bottom of the left circle that went through the legs of Saint John goalie Matthew Williams.
Hardie, the former Sea Dog, made it 3-1 nearly three minutes later, burying the rebound after Pascal Aquin drove to the net and was denied by Williams.
The Sea Dogs cut their deficit in half with another power play goal halfway through the period.
Radim Salda blasted a shot from the left point that went off Lund-Cornish's left arm and off the crossbar before dropping into the crease, near the goal line. Reginato got behind the goaltender to deposit the loose puck.
Joseph's second of the game, a power play strike three minutes later, restored Charlottetown's two-goal lead.
The Arizona Coyotes' first rounder took a pass on the right side of the slot and rifled a wrister that deflected off a Saint John defenceman and off the glass behind the net. It came back out on the left wing side of the goal and contacted the back of Williams' mask before dropping across the line.
Desjardins made it a three-goal game five minutes into the third with a slap shot from the right side that bounced off the stick of a Saint John defenceman and inside the left post.
Drew added a power play goal for the Islanders four minutes later, finishing off a give-and-go with Hardie with a tap in from the front of the crease.
A Sea Dog rookie concluded the scoring with four minutes left in the third period.
A scrum on the right boards saw the puck squirt loose to Mason. The Pictou County, Nova Scotia, product moved into the slot and whistled a wrist shot under the blocker of Lund-Cornish for his first QMJHL goal. Defenceman Tyler Hungerbuhler earned an assist for his first QMJHL point.
Lund-Cornish made 28 saves for the win. Williams turned aside 33 shots in a losing cause.
Joseph's two goals made him first star while Drew's three points prompted a second-star selection. Reginato was named third star with a goal and an assist. Paid attendance was 3,970.
