Seattle Reign FC News Release
SEATTLE (June 29, 2015) - Seattle Reign FC today announced that it will host an exclusive viewing party at THE NINETY in conjunction with Seattle Sounders FC for the U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT) upcoming Semifinal match against Germany in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup on Tuesday, June 30 at 4:00 p.m. PT. Space is limited so fans looking to attend should RSVP today.
Reign FC forward Megan Rapinoe has been instrumental for the Red, White and Blue, tallying two goals and assist through three matches. While she missed the USWNT's match against China PR due to yellow card accumulation, she will be available for head coach Jill Ellis to call upon against Germany.
On the defensive end, Reign FC goalkeeper Hope Solo allowed just one goal and recorded three shutouts in four matches to bring her career shutout tally to 87. She also now has 134 wins with the USWNT, the most by a goalkeeper in U.S. history.
The USA advanced to the Semifinals on Friday, June 26 with a 1-0 win over China PR. Carli Lloyd's header in the 53rd minute proved to be all the USWNT would need to advance. Solo and the USA back line have now held opponents scoreless for 423 straight minutes in this year's World Cup, the longest clean sheet streak in U.S. World Cup history.
Germany narrowly advanced to the Semifinals after defeating Norway in a penalty shootout after finishing 1-1 at the end of extra time.
Doors to THE NINETY will open an hour prior to kick-off at 3:00 p.m. PT. Reign FC midfielder Jess Fishlock and defender Rachel Corsie will both be on hand to sign autographs and meet fans. Food and beverages will be available and fans will also have the opportunity to purchase select items from the #SRFCUSA Collection.
Registrants will need to bring their tickets as well as a photo ID for entry. Please note that this event is open to minors.
THE NINETY, located in the Pioneer Square neighborhood at the base of Seattle Sounders FC headquarters, is a cultural hub of soccer and gathering place for all soccer fans to celebrate the world's game. The space showcases the history of Sounders FC while providing another avenue for the club to better engage its fans.
