Johnstown Tomahawks News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Tomahawks topped the Soo Eagles 2-0 on Friday night at the Cambria County War Memorial, earning the team's third shutout of the season.

Both teams were kept off the scoreboard in the first period of play despite each having power play opportunities. The Tomahawks had a chance on the power play but could not capitalize as the Eagles' Jackson Barliant received a double minor and a 10 minute game ejection for hitting from behind.

The Tomahawks were the first team to open up the scoring as Dakoda Menslage popped the water bottle off the net on the power play to get his first goal of season. Brandon Reinholz added to the Tomahawks' lead by slipping the puck past the Eagles goaltender, Paige Skoog, to increase the lead to 2-0.

The Tomahawks maintained their lead throughout the third period, holding the Eagles to a scoreless game as the final period was set at 2-0.

Alex Okicki made 20 saves on 20 shots to earn his second shutout of the season. The Eagles' goaltender, Paige Skoog, stopped 29 of 31 shots.

The win pulled the Tomahawks even in the three-game weekend season after Soo took the first game with a shutout of their own Thursday night. The Tomahawks and the Eagles return to the ice on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the War Memorial Arena to close out the series. The game marks the finale of Face-Off-Against Cancer Weekend.
